Jan Alison Edwards

ELEMENTAL

Strongly influenced by the Land Art movement of the 60s as well as J.M.W. Turner, Landscape painter; Georges Braque, Cubism, Joseph Beuys and Cornelia Parker.

Developing  my own methodology and work practise based on conceptual ideas around the  polarisation of  humankinds  relationship  with  nature . My love of Nature and landscape lead me to confront issues of the environment. Recycling plays an important role in my methodology and work practise, reflecting nature’s evolutional processes, working in nature with nature to create a dialogue between myself and the natural environment.

Combining traditional and modern techniques and materials   often using  plant fibres growing in situ, plus seaweeds, pigments, soil, sand, and garden or pond debris.
Choosing the fibre or medium for the particular concept.
Generally  creating  3D installation, sculptures often in the artist  book form.

Since relocating to the UK after many years abroad the artists practice has developed into a deeper eco ethos using as far as possible only natural materials.
